San Juan Community Theatre features family variety show

Submitted by the San Juan Community Theatre

Juggling, magic, music, hula hoopers, and more create a fun-filled family evening at San Juan Community Theatre at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 27.

New Old Time Chautauqua is a unique collection of entertainers, which features both internationally acclaimed and Northwest performers. These include juggling comedians and The Flying Karamasov Brothers. Up to 12 show-stopping, multi-generational acts will be featured, beginning and ending with a parade through the audience led by the band. The band plays a wide selection of music, from traditional marching numbers to Teddy Bear’s Picnic, from salsa to Klezmer, and everything in between.

Founded in 1981 by a group of adventurous performers, health care practitioners and educators, New Old Time Chautauqua was formed to revive the lively Chautauqua spirit and cultural movement of the late 1800s and early 1900s. The all-volunteer performers aim to “delight, educate, amaze and provoke the imaginations of adults and children alike.”

The business partner for the evening is Islanders Bank. Tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for student reserved and $5 student rush at the door. The SJCT box office is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased at www.sjctheatre.org.
