Richard “Dick” Douglas Lally | 1940-2017

Richard “Dick” Douglas Lally, 76, died suddenly on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at his home in Friday Harbor, Washington. He was born on June 11, 1940 at the Hays, Kansas hospital, the son of Frank and Margaret Lally. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joann Lally, sons Jeff, Robert, Shawn, and Mike Lally, brothers Dr. Jerry Lally, Patrick Lally, Dr. Steve Lally, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, stepson Chris Lawson, wife Sherry and their three sons, Chas, Parker, and Gabe.

He graduated from Russell Kansas High School in 1958 and attended Fort Hays State College in Hays Kansas. Dick had an innate curiosity of the human condition and was a voracious reader of a variety of subjects. He spent much of the last 49 years supporting people in the recovery community. He was a very kind, humorous, “twinkle in the eye kind of guy”, and always glad to offer a helping hand. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers any donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders (donations@newyork.msf.org) or FANS (islandrecfans.org). Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory Inc., Anacortes and the San Juan Islands. To share memories of Dick, please sign the online guest register at www.evanschapel.com
