Sharon Lee (Morrill) James, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, went home to be with her lord on April 1, 2017. Sharon was born to Calvin Clare Morrill and Betty Mae TateBlanchard on October 9, 1943, in her maternal great-grandparents’ home on Sutton Road in Friday Harbor. She was one of eight children raised on San Juan Island and spent most of her life there. Sharon had six children, Shery Wold, Geraldine Wold, Walter Wold, Gerald (Bud) Wold, ToniJo (TJ) Surina, and Cristy Schelm. She loved cooking, canning, gardening, crabbing, octopus hunting, digging clams, bonfires, BBQs, large family dinners, the beaches, waves, and country music. Sharon was very energetic, hard working and had a witty sense of humor. Her cooking was noted throughout the island, including American Legion dinners and the Santa Ship. After leaving her position as a cook on the Washington State Ferries she later cooked dinners at the Elk’s in Ocean Shores where she had moved in her later years. After Sharon retired she continued to express her love of people as a senior companion, helping them with their daily activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as husbands; Gerald J. Wold, Antone J.Surina, Bryan D. James, son Gerald J. Wold Jr, sisters Carley (Morrill) Burton, Joyce (Morrill) Gaylard, and brothers Calvin D. Morrill and Gerald V. Morrill.

She leaves behind children; Shery L. Hensley of Oklahoma City, OK., Geraldine L.Kennedy of Yakima, WA., Walter A. Wold of Cedar City, UT., ToniJo M. Huffman (Gerald) of Friday Harbor, Cristy L. Loveless (Chris) of Everett, WA., and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Three siblings Daniel A. Morrill of Friday Harbor, Teena M. Martin of Orcas Island, Rita V. Grossarth (David) of Richland, WA, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held April 29, 2017 at noon at the Valley Cemetery with a gathering to follow at 1 p.m., UPSTAIRS at the American Legion.

The family will provide a BBQ pig and suggests bringing a side dish or dessert to go along with it. Members and guests welcomed.
