James Settles, son of Chuck and Flo Settles, passed away May 13 in Ferndale, Wash. He is survived by his sisters, Donna Collins and Christy Johnson, and by his daughter Krista Settles.

A lifetime resident of the San Juans, he was passionate about playing the drums and motorcycling, and he was young at heart. An informal memorial will be held on San Juan Island on July 14.
