The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:
Oct. 24
• A Friday Harbor resident violated a temporary order of protection by calling the protected party on her cell phone.
Oct. 27
• Deputies were dispatched to a report of domestic violence in Friday Harbor and a male juvenile was taken into custody.
• A Lopez deputy responded to the Hummel Lake area for a complaint about a loose calf. It was gone upon the deputy’s arrival.
• A deputy was dispatched to a residential burglary that occurred in Eastsound, which may be part of an ongoing investigation with a known suspect.
Oct. 28
• A deputy responded to a vehicle theft on Orcas. The vehicle was found with items stolen out of it.
• A deputy responded to a burglary call at the Orcas ferry terminal. Nothing was found damaged or missing.
• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a report of a Lopez woman with a mental health problem. The situation did not warrant involuntary treatment.
• A Lopez deputy found a dog wandering in the area of Richardson Road. The dog was boarded overnight and released to the owner the next day.
• A deputy initiated a traffic stop in Friday Harbor and the driver was issued an infraction for speeding and warned for expired vehicle registration and no current proof of insurance.
• An Orcas Island man reported a driver of a local business was not driving safely and could have caused a traffic collision. The business was contacted and warned about the incident.
• Lopez deputies responded to a lost property complaint. The item was returned to the reporting person and it was determined that no crime had occurred.
• Lopez deputies contacted a motorist near Lopez Village for a traffic violation. The driver had a loaded pistol in his vehicle and no concealed weapons license. The driver claimed he did not know it was illegal to carry a loaded pistol in his car.
Oct. 29
• A deputy was dispatched to Orcas Road for a single vehicle accident. No driver was found on scene. Orcas fire personnel did an area search and did not find anyone.
• A deputy was dispatched to a report of vehicle theft in Friday Harbor. Investigation continues.
• A deputy was dispatched to a report of a wanted person in the area of Spring Street and Argyle in Friday Harbor. The subject was located behind the Life Care Center of the San Juan Islands on and taken into custody without incident.
• A Lopez deputy was sent to investigate gunshots heard after dark along Fisherman Bay. The area was checked, but the source of the shots could not be determined.
• A deputy received a report of a shots fired on Shaw Island. Deputies responded and discovered that the individual had set off fireworks earlier.
Oct. 30
• A deputy was dispatched to Friday Harbor in reference to a domestic dispute. One of the involved subjects attempted to leave the area by vehicle and was stopped. The subject was arrested for assault and driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
• A Friday Harbor resident reported multiple bank accounts opened in his name. The victim did not suffer a monetary loss and reported the incident to his bank. He was advised to contact the three credit bureaus and will report if a loss occurs.
• Deputies responded to a domestic violence incident in Friday Harbor involving a juvenile male, who was arrested. During the investigation it was found an assault had also occurred on Oct. 26, involving the same person.
• A deputy was dispatched to the Port of Friday Harbor in reference to an unwanted subject. There was an intoxicated subject who kept jumping into the water at the port. The subject was transported to the emergency room for treatment. No law enforcement action was needed.
• A female turned herself into the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office on outstanding warrants. She was wanted for violations of court conditions and was booked without incident.
• A citizen made contact with a deputy at the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office in Friday Harbor in reference to her ex-boyfriend coming into her residence. The incident was settled by contact.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a domestic dispute. The investigation showed that the couple was having a verbal argument and that no physical altercation took place.
• A deputy responded to a Friday Harbor residence in reference to a curfew violation. The parents told the deputy that their daughter had left the house sometime in the night. The juvenile arrived home a short time later and was interviewed.
Oct. 31
• A deputy found a vehicle parked in a designated handicapped parking space without a placard or handicapped license plate in the 100 block of A Street in Friday Harbor. After 20 minutes, no one returned. A parking ticket was issued.
• A Friday Harbor deputy received notification from the protected party of a temporary protection order that the restrained person had violated the order. This was the subject’s third violation. The subject was arrested and placed into custody.
• A deputy was dispatched to an Orcas Island resort in regards to an attempted theft. Video surveillance caught the known suspect on camera. The suspect is already in custody on another case. A report was forwarded to the prosecutor.
• A deputy was dispatched to a death investigation in Friday Harbor. Upon completion of the investigation it was found there was no evidence to show the incident was anything other than natural causes.
• A citizen came to the sheriff’s substation on Orcas to report a stolen laptop computer possibly out of her residence. A report was taken.
Nov. 1
• A deputy was dispatched to the Orcas substation to contact a reporting party who stated they were assaulted. The deputy arrived and contacted the reporting party.
• An Orcas Island deputy was dispatched due to an unwanted person at a local business. The subject was abusive and refused to leave. The subject left the business. She is known as a person with severe mental illness.
• A juvenile at the Friday Harbor Elementary School made comments to another student that were threatening in nature. The Sheriff’s Office responded. School personnel decided the threat will be handled at the school level. The student’s residence was checked to ensure she had no access to weapons.
• A Lopez deputy was called about an ongoing problem with dogs running at large from a south-end residence. The dog owner was contacted and asked to keep the dogs home.
• A deputy was dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the Friday Harbor area. The investigation determined the incident to be only verbal in nature. Involved parties agreed to stay away from each other for the night.
• A Lopez man reported threats.
