Dear Townspeople:

Construction of the Sewer Replacement Project is in its final phase near the Town Wastewater Treatment Plant. Local contractors hope to have all the work completed by the end of May. They began work at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and are proceeding up Tucker Avenue to Guard Street in front of the high school, and finally over to Culver Avenue.

Trenches are being dug and new sewer pipes and manholes are being installed. A complete set of construction drawings and specifications are available here at Town Hall for your review. We will do our best to minimize any utility interruptions and try to notify you in advance of any loss of service.

As with any major utility replacement project, the streets will be congested with equipment and materials, but access to your homes and businesses will be maintained. There will be times, however, when you will be asked to wait or detoured while ditches are being filled or equipment moved.

Town felt that it was necessary to complete this phase of construction as soon as possible. Although this project may seem untimely, Town chose to complete this final phase this month as to avoid disruption to high school graduation ceremonies and added congestion by increased summer vehicular traffic.

I realize this project will be disruptive to your lives and I ask in advance for your cooperation. Please contact me or C. King Fitch, town administrator, at 378–2810 as problems arise and we will do our best to deal with each situation as it comes along.
