Susan Osborn’s annual Christmas Concert is Dec. 12, 2 p.m., at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 760 Park St., Friday Harbor.

Guest musicians: Carolyn Cruso, hammer dulcimer, flute, guitar and voice; and Ritambhara Tyson, cello and voice.

Tickets are $15 at Griffin Bay Bookstore, 155 Spring St., Friday Harbor.

For more than 30 years, singer and songwriter Susan Osborn has held the high ground of vocal artistry. Her remarkable voice — powerful and rich with emotional expression — came to world prominence when she was lead singer of the Paul Winter Consort between 1978 and 1985, shining on such albums as “Common Ground,” “Missa Gaia” and “Concert for the Earth.”

Osborn has performed at the United Nations, the Berlin Wall, the Nagano Winter Olympics, the Global Forum in Kyoto and the Hague, and numerous memorial and peace ceremonies at Hiroshima and post-911 New York.

In 1991, she began her long association with Japan, where she records and performs throughout the country. Osborn is currently completing an anniversary tour marking her 20 years of music making and teaching in Japan, appearing in eight cities throughout the country with pianist Kentaro Kihara.

For the past two decades, Osborn and her husband, artist/writer David Densmore, have lived on Orcas Island, where she records, teaches and performs. This is the 21st anniversary of her Christmas Concerts.
