Islanders are invited to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (one day early) with a community dinner at the Friday Harbor High School commons on Wednesday, May 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Ballet Folkloriko Monarca dancers will perform around 6:15 p.m.
On the menu are: Smoked Pork Carnitas with Applewood smoked pork shoulder; Grilled Chicken Tacos; slow-simmered NW black beans; Spanish rice with onions and tomatoes; Chili-Lime Coleslaw; Garden Salad with Orange-Cumin vinaigrette, cucumber, tomato, olives and pepitas; Chips and “Guacamole” made with NW green garbanzo beans instead of avocados; and for dessert, Tres Leche Cake (a light cake soaked in three types of milk). Admission is by donation of $12 for adults and $6 for kids under 12 years old.
