It has come to my attention that a certain person, and business owner, has made his focus this summer to stop the young man playing his instruments at Spring Street Landing.

The young man has spent 1,500-plus hours learning his craft and has entertained thousands of people walking through the area. He has made people dance and old Scottish people cry with nostalgia.

Is it any wonder why young people who grow up on this island can’t wait to leave, when the place is run by such old, bitter, angry men who seem to get their way with no opposition?

How many towns like Friday Harbor have young people willing to list their occupation as Town Piper? Will no one else speak up in support of the Bagpipe kid?
