Henry Wendt III | Passages

Henry Wendt III of Gladwyne PA, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, aged 90. Mr. Wendt was born July 19, 1933 in Neptune City, NJ and grew up in Sands Point and Tuxedo Park NY. He graduated in 1951 from the Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY, and in 1955 from Princeton University. He started work at Smith Kline and French in 1955, which became SmithKline Beecham, retiring in 1994 as Chairman of the Board and CEO. A lifelong sailor, fly fisherman, and collector of antique maps, Mr. Wendt was the author of Global Embrace and the founder of Quivira Estate Vineyards and Winery.

Mr. Wendt is survived by his wife of 67 years, Holly (Peterson), and daughters Chelsea Wendt (Moe) and Laura Mitchell (Kenneth), three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two of his three sisters, Martha Nesbitt and Nancy Evans.
