Rep. Jeff Morris, D-Anacortes, will participate in Orcas Power & Light Cooperative’s annual Ambassador’s Legislative Kick-Off meetings scheduled on Lopez, Orcas and San Juan islands.

— Oct. 27: 2-4 p.m., OPALCO office in Eastsound.

— Oct. 28: 8:30–10:30 a.m.: OPALCO office in Friday Harbor.

— Oct. 28: 1:30-3:30 p.m., Lopez Island Library.

Morris, the speaker pro tem of the House, will speak on “The Future of Power Supply in the Northwest.” Washington Rural Electric Cooperative Association Director Kent Lopez will give a preview of energy issues that the state Legislature will be addressing, an overview of the national grassroots “Our Energy, Our Future” campaign that aims to engage elected officials in a dialogue about energy issues, and give us some tips about how to be an effective grassroots activist.

There will be a question-and-answer session with OPALCO Manager Randy Cornelius following the presentations.

You don’t have to be signed up for OPALCO’s Ambassador Program to participate. Ambassadors are simply co-op members who want to be kept in the know in order to protect their (and their co-op’s) best interests. Refreshments will be served.
