A 42-year-old man from Anacortes was charged with allegedly breaking into his girlfriend’s home on Lopez Island and assaulting her on March 9.
Keith B. Pohl was charged with burglary in the first degree, domestic violence and assault in the second degree, domestic violence on March 9.
San Juan County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Teresa Barnett said both charges are class B felonies and each carries a maximum of a 10-year sentence.
According to court documents, a witness said the victim allegedly asked Pohl to leave her home after an argument in the late hours of March 8. Later, Pohl returned and allegedly forced entry into the residence, where the argument continued. The victim reported that Pohl allegedly stabbed three fingers into her eye.
Pohl’s trial is scheduled for May 14 and his bail is set at $50,000, but he had not posted it as of March 22.
